The Holidays In & Around Boston

There are always exciting events happening in Boston, and while COVID-19 currently has many of our typical events on hold, many are now offered as a virtual experience. Here are some of our favorite virtual events and experiences that you and your family can still “attend” and enjoy!

Each day the Museum of Fine Arts will be highlighting various pieces of art over social media with descriptions, podcasts and commentary, #MuseumfromHome. While the MFA is closed, they still want to share our collection! Each day the museum will be highlighting various pieces of art over social media with descriptions, podcasts and commentary. Tune in podcaster-in-residence @thelonelypalette and dive deeper into paintings with MFA every week! You can also view other museums that are making their collections available through their websites or social channels, these  include: the Commonwealth Museum, Harvard Art MuseumsInstitute of Contemporary ArtIsabella Stewart Gardner MuseumMuseum of African American History and the USS Constitution Museum.

Boston Ballet is releasing exclusive ballet videos each week. You can watch on their Facebook and Instagram page.

The Museum of Science, one of the world’s largest science centers, has launched a new digital Museum experience for audiences, MOS at Home. With multiple live presentations throughout the day, creative engineering projects, podcasts, kid-friendly activities, and more, the Museum is inviting the community to visit remotely at www.mos.org/MOSatHome for new content every day.

This year, Boston’s Holiday Season is also going to be celebrated a bit differently. The Boston Downtown Business Improvement District “Stage Windows,” opens as part of its “Downtown Holiday Magic” festivities. Keep your eyes peeled for these dazzling displays from the Boston Ballet, Huntington Theatre Company, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company and Revels. Some of these locations will include the Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s, “A Christmas Carol” display at 467 Washington Street. Boston Ballet will create a one-of-a-kind display for “The Nutcracker” viewable at the corner of Summer and Hawley Street. The Huntington Theatre Company is creating a fantasy New Year’s Eve installation at 481 Washington Street. Cambridge’s legendary Revels troupe has created a Winter Solstice theme located at 395 Washington Street.
